Obesity is one of the major problems being faced across the world. People find it not that easy to fight against their ever increasing weight; all thanks to our so called hi-tech busy lifestyle. These hindrances in the path of weight loss are created by human being himself. We choose to eat junk food, unhealthy food in restaurants. More than a habit, it is considered as a status symbol; people take pride in telling others that they go to all these hi-fi restaurants when actually they are simply unreasonably overpriced. Also, they feel they can save lot of time if they eat out. For the same reason, they do not pay attention to their health; we claim that we have extremely tight schedule and there is no slot available in the calendar to fit in time for exercise. When we are leading such a faulty life, what can be done to fight against this weight gain? Diet, exercise or stop eating out?

First of first you should set the goal clear as to what exactly you are trying to achieve because the answers to all the questions lies in what exactly are you aiming at. Is it only about loosing weight quickly or for leading a fit and healthy life? Depending upon this you can pick few of the weight loss tips. If you are targeting at only shedding extra calories and loosing weight, going on a diet should help you out. In case you are doing it for fitness and stay healthy, regular exercise along with a strict diet should suffice. In a study done by few of the scientists it was observed that people who follow only the diet plan can loose an average of 5 to 6 kilograms (women) and men can loose weight up to 9 kilograms. These results were then compared with the outcome of the people who were on regular exercise plan. It was observed that women can loose approximately 0.5 – 1 kilograms and men up to 0.5 kilograms.

Diet plan:

  • Increase the frequency of eating but eat small amount in each meal. Don’t starve or overeat; rather eat just right.
  • Reduce the intake of sugary products and carbohydrates. Prefer whole wheat and whole pulses as whole products will keep you full and you will not feel hungry. Replace junk food unprocessed healthy food. Add more fiber to your diet and consume more fruits and vegetables as these food items improve your digestive system and cuts on fats from the body
  • Cut on food that have high calorific value like cheese, butter, ghee etc and replace them with low cal and healthy food
  • Try to avoid fried items; prefer baked or steamed food as this style of cooking retails the nutritional value of the product and is also low in calories
  • Last but not the least, increase the intake of water as it helps in proper regulation.

Regular exercise:

As mentioned, diet plan really helps people loose weight drastically but exercise is equally important as the metabolic rate improve with regular exercise which helps in burning extra calories from the body. It is vital to work out daily to keep your body fit and healthy. From a survey done, it was found out that people who exercise every day increase their life span. 1 hour of workout gives you 2 hours of quality life and also reduces signs of aging. Apart from these few other advantages that you can see with regular exercise are:

  • Reduces stress and anxiety
  • Tranquilizes your brain, mind and soul
  • Reduces sings of aging
  • Decreases the symptoms of diabetes and other severe diseases
  • Makes your body flexible and fit
  • Increases your life span
  • Provides you sound sleep

Hence, it can be seen that diet plan is indeed helpful in reducing weight that too quickly and effectively but regular exercise is also important to lead a healthy life and achieve a flexible and fit body. There are various kinds of exercise like yoga, power yoga, jogging, walking etc. you can pick one of these depending upon what you are trying to achieve and also according to your interests. There are rigorous exercise especially meant to shed weight quickly and at the same time exercise like yoga which is meant to calm down your soul, brain and entire body.
